CATA’s regular service to close for Thanksgiving Day

The Capital Area Transportation Authority will close its regular service on Thursday, Nov. 28, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. CATA’s Fixed Route, Spec-Tran, Rural Service, Connector, Redi-Ride, Lot Link, Night Owl, Shopping Bus and CATA Rydz will not operate. Limited holiday service will operate 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for customers who have pre-reserved trips.

All non-campus CATA routes and services will end at their regularly scheduled time on Wednesday, Nov. 27. MSU late-evening campus service on Routes 30, 31, 39 and Lot Link will conclude at 11:30 p.m.

Capital Area Transportation Authority receives $1.7 million grant

The Capital Area Transportation Authority was awarded a $1.687 million Mobility Challenge grant today, through the Michigan Department of Transportation’s $15M Equitable Mobility Challenge Solving Mobility Gaps program. Funds will be used to provide microtransit service for third-shift workers in the Greater Lansing region.

CATA hosts weekly open interviews through October

CATA hosts weekly open interviews through October

The Capital Area Transportation Authority will continue to host open interviews for bus drivers through Oct. 30. Sessions are held every Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CATA’s Administrative Offices, 4615 Tranter Street, in South Lansing. Free parking is available.

New drivers earn $17.50 per hour during training and $24.93 per hour upon the completion of probation. Additional wage increases are earned after six months.

The Capital Area Transportation Authority recently launched Language Line, an interpretation service that provides real-time translation support in over 240 languages, including American Sign Language. Regardless of language, customers can now seamlessly access CATA’s information, services and a translator virtually or by phone.

Look to the road for your dream career. The Eaton County Transportation Authority will host a job fair, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, in search of bus drivers, dispatchers and schedulers. On-site interviews will be conducted throughout the day.

 

The event will be held at the Capital Area Michigan Works! facility, located at 945 Reynolds Road in Charlotte, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free parking is available.
